Race Course: 1.71miles between
Check-in: 6:30 to 8:30 am,
Check-in Location:
Race Briefing: 8:45am at starting beach
Race Start: 9:00am (1st Wave, 18 & under), 9:10 am (19 & over)
Start and Finish Location: Beach start & finish – race direction will be determined race day and announced at check-in. (Bus transportation will be provided for swimmers between check-in and start/finish lines)
Eligibility: All participants must be at least 11 years of age.
Divisions: Male and Female 14 &U, 15-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, etc. (5 year increments)
Waves and Recognition: Starting waves will be 18 & under, and 19 & over (split into two waves depending on number of swimmers. USMS LMSC recognition number….pending
Awards: First through third for each Age Group.
Entry Procedure: All entries are on-line thru setupevents.com
Entry Fee: $38 per swimmer (includes cap, T-shirt, awards, and beach party) $75 per swimmer for entries received after August 28th.
Entry Deadline: Entries must be received by 9/9/09
900 swimmer event limit. (There will be no race day entries.)
Rules: Each swimmer will be required to the wear a bright colored, numbered swim cap provided at check-in. No wet-suits are allowed. Personal paddlers/kayakers are optional and will be allowed with the race director’s consent. The course will be patrolled by Lifeguards on the beach, race marshals in kayaks, and the US Coast Guard. Decisions by Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue in regard to safety before and during the race are final.
Check-in & Verification: At check-in, all participants will be marked with their race number, and receive a numbered cap and a ChampionChip anklet tag for tracking individual start and finish times. The ChampionChip must be returned at the finish of the race. Marks and numbered caps must be worn at all times during the race.
To insure all participants are accounted for, any swimmer leaving the water early will have their cap and ChampionChip collected by the lifeguards on the beach.
Note: No refunds. No substitututions. Proceeds benefit the Cape Fear Aquatic Club "Competition Fund".
